We are happy to report that our staff of lawyers and legal assistants have been surviving quite well with minimal effects.

CONTINUED PRODUCTIVITY.

The Schmidt Salita Law Team has been able to continue to preform at a high rate of productivity using social distancing and remote work. We have found that, in many respects, our productivity is equal to or greater than before. We have adopted new efficiency methods that we intend to incorporate into our system going forward. 

The legal system has adopted the use of Zoom technology that has improved efficiency with regard to client contacts, court hearings, depositions, arbitrations and medications.

STATE OF THE COURT SYSTEM.

Almost 100% of the jury trials in civil cases have been shut down-and a big backlog is developing. Criminal cases have the first priority because of the US Constitution requiring a speedy trial in criminal cases. However, pre-trial proceedings have been moving along quite efficiency and many cases are getting ready for trial when the court calendar opens up for civil jury trials. We do not expect many, if any, civil trials to start happening before mid-summer.

STATE OF SETTLEMENTS.

We are finding that the value of settlements for our clients remains high during the pandemic. The mediators that we use report that that is true generally.
