The single largest fireworks injury case handled by any of the FIREWORKS INJURY LAWYERS at the Schmidt Salita Law Team occurred in the Bicentential year of 1975 when a small Minnesota county seat town elected to have a special celebration to mark the 200 year anniversary of the United States.  Many mistakes were made that resulted in severe injury and major disability to one of the children of that town.  The mistakes were many:

-Failure to provide proper crowd set-back from the point of ignition.

-Use of a trucker’s fusee as an ignition source, throwing off sparks near the open supply of the fireworks.

-Failure to cover the supply of fireworks to protect it against unintended ignition by falling sparks.

-Improper training of the ignition crew.

-Storing the fireworks supply in a pickup box with open tailgate pointed directly at the nearby crowd.

The result was that the entire supply ignited all at once-a complete tragedy for one of the spectators. One of the Schmidt Salita Law Team members, senior Trial Lawyer Douglas Schmidt, successfully handled the resulting personal injury claim, accomplishing a settlement for the injury victim.
