Unsafe Loads Cause Trucking Injuries and Death
The collapse or shifting of unstable loads on trucks has been the subject of a number of cases which have been brought to a successful conclusion by the Schmidt Law Firm.
In one such case, a Minnesota farmer sustained severe neck and back injuries when he was struck in the top of the head by a 90 pound hay bale that fell from the top of the load of hay bales that had been brought by truck to his farm. This occurred when the driver untied one of the ropes which had secured the load without warning the farmer before doing so. A successful recovery was obtained from the insurance company of the trucker.
In another case, a construction worker was crushed by many large glass crates which tipped over, in a domino effect, when he was attempting to unload an entire truck load of glass crates at the construction site of a commercial building that was under construction in Bloomington, Minnesota. The case was successfully settled against the glass manufacturer. Schmidt proved that the load was loaded onto the truck in such a way that it was virtually impossible for it to be safely unloaded.
