$900,000 Court Award in Farm Injury
After a hard-fought trial, another record recovery was obtained by the Schmidt Law Firm in a lawsuit that involved injuries to a McLeod county, Minnesota farmer who suffered the amputation of his hand in a farm equipment accident.
Schmidt’s client owned the machine in partnership with another farmer. The co-owner of the machine improperly filled the machine with diesel fuel which used gasoline. As the result, the machine malfunctioned and the engine heated up. When Schmidt’s client attempted to investigate, he opened the engine compartment and was sprayed with hot radiator fluid. He reacted, lost his balance and his hand went into the radiator fan. As a result, he suffered major injury to his hand which required amputation.
The case went to trial in McLoed County and was tried to conclusion before a judge who ruled in favor of Schmidt’s client. The recovery was paid by the farm liability insurance company for Schmidt’s client’s partner.
