$383,000 Jury Verdict for Victim of Car Accident
After a bit hard-fought trial, Douglas E. Schmidt earned a jury verdict for his client in the amount of $383,000 in Hennepin County District Court.
Schmidt’s client had been injured in a car accident that occurred in St. Paul, Minnesota. He first obtained a settlement in the amount of $100,000 from the insurance company of the at-fault driver.
He then made claim against his clients own insurance company, Allstate, for Underinsured Motorist benefits. When Allstate refused to make a reasonable offer, the case was placed in suit and ultimately went to trial. The jury returned a verdict that was approximately 10 times greater than the last offer.
